  1. look up different wedding sites for fun tips. I do pictures for many weddings and a few fun ideas are as follows:

get a framed picture of you and your fiance matted with a white mat and use it as your guest registry. That way all of your guests who sign your picture will have a lasting place in your new home.

If you are getting married in a theater, have a program made up (lots of ideas on the internet) as a program for a play. That would be fun to do, let me know if I can help ya with it. I am thinking (and rattling) like Act One - seating of guests or pre-wedding music, Act Two - seating of family and wedding party, and so on. You could even open up with a "movie type"  of you and your fiance in a slideshow format. Windows Movie Maker is a great source for this. The movie could have pics and music of your and your fiance seperately growing up ics and then dating pics and then it could lead to the seting of the party etc.

One idea gaining popularity now is to put disposable cameras on every table and you'll get a myriad of pictures from every person's angle. It is a great way to memorialize your wedding from a different perspective.

Bride/Honoring Your Mother and new Mother-In-Law

On the way down the aisle, before taking her place beside the groom, the bride pauses and presents both her mother and her soon-to-be mother-in-law with special lace hankerchiefs embroidered with details of the occasion.

    Groom/Honoring Mother and new Mother-in-Law

Have the groom escort both his mother and the bride's mother to their seats in the processional.

    Honoring a Loved One

Mention a family member who has passed and honor their memory.

    Stand Up!

Have all parents stand to be recognized at the time the Bride is presented to the groom.

    Flip the Ceremony Around

Consider facing your guests instead of having your back to them.

    Be Grateful

Mention and thank the person who introduced you during the ceremony.

    Special Reading

Have a close family member or friend read a poem during the ceremony.

    Festive Processional Music

Select something non-traditional for your recessional music. How about James Brown's "I Feel Good!"

    Candlelight

Consider being married by candlelight - nothing is more romantic!

    Add Some Fun

Have your attendants hold up rating cards after the marriage declaration/kiss.

It is your day and you want yourself to remember it and have a relaxing fun. Have a trusted friend help you coordinate your wedding or if you can afford it, a wdding palnner. That leaves all the headaches and last minute changes to someone else. I tend to help a lot b/c being a photographer, I usually know the routine of a wedding.

Good luck and enjoy the planning, the moment, and the ride!

  2. Listen to Collette, she likes to write books. And I assume she is a wedding planner.!!!

  3. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! There are a lot of great websites that will give you tips. Some of them are:

    www.theknot.com

    www.brides.com

    www.theweddingchannel.com

Browse around these sites, and pick up some bridal magazines, if you can. Pull out pictures of anything that you like. That will give you a place to start. If you have them near you, go to Michaels, Joanns, and Hobby Lobby and look thru their wedding section. There is so much out there!

If you are crafty and like doing things like that, Martha Stewart Weddings always has some great projects.

One thing you can do to make your wedding unique is to make sure you include elements of you and your fiance in it. For example, for our favors, we found a free website where you could create your own crossword puzzle (my now-husband and I like to do crosswords). We created a puzzle that was all about us, where we had our first date, the names of our first pets, etc. and then had them at each place on the tables. Then I had some pencils made with our names and wedding date on them, and put those at each place as well. Our guests got a huge kick out of it, and it helped people mingle about, trying to figure out the answers.

    Good Luck!
