  1. Is this one of those cruises you won? If so it may be ok but dont expect too much.  Also are you for certain that he wont get seasick? Have either of you been on a boat?

I would reccomend Cuzumel, Mexico but its up to you.

  2. What a great present!  Good for you.  I'll try to answer each of your questions in parts.

    Which cruise line:

If you're going for a 3-4 day cruise, your options are basically Royal Caribbean or Carnival.  Carnival is more fun (better nightlife, better entertainment), but more "wild".  Royal Caribbean can be kind of dead at night, but at least it's peaceful.  Both have great food and aren't too expensive.

    3 vs. 4-day:

A 4-day cruise, which is mid-week, will be more peaceful than a 3-day but will have an older crowd (because more retired people can take off during the week).  On a per-day basis, 4-day cruises are also usually cheaper than 3-day (because most people like to go over the weekend).

Be aware: August is the HEIGHT of kid season.  If I had to go in August I'd go for a 4-day cruise because at least that would help reduce the # of kids a little.  I find that kids and "peaceful" don't necessarily go together.  =)

Passport: There's no way to make a passport application secret.  He'll have to sign the forms, get pictures, etc.  I think your best bet is to persuade him to get a passport "just in case." These days, you need a passport even to fly to Canada, so it's smart to have one.  And since it can take 6 weeks to get a passport, it's a good idea to do it in advance (rush passports are possible but very expen$ive).

Good luck and have a great trip.

  3. nassau ive been there twice on 2 cruises, me personally im not impressed, im 22 now btw

there the straw market were locals sell hand bags and that sort of thing, never give what the ask for sumthing, always talk them dont

theres a senior frogs, right on the side of the dock or beach

    and a hard rock cafe

on the street over there is a lot of shops and stores but they are pricey nothing much to my interest other than that you get into the non tourist part of town, and they have huge rats btw seen them in the day time

take a boat over to atlantis resort its very nice and explore the atlantis resort.

ive went or carnival and norwegian, they are both about the same when it comes to stuff to do on the boat, drink and gamble

on the passport thing i dont think you can get one without him knowing espacally with the new homeland security laws that went into effect.

but its fun i had a blast both times and plan on going again

  4. I love cruises!!!!!!!...but Nassau is not that great. Most ships stop there and there are alot of people so rent a scooter....we did and it was fun!!

  5. Cruises are great!  My husband & I did a 10-day Mexican Riviera Cruise last fall, it was wonderful!  So much to do!  Just so you know that all excursion costs are not included in the price of the cruise.  Neither is alcohol or the airfare to get to the port you will be leaving from.  I booked our cruise through cruise411, & highly recommend them.  I would love to go to Nassau, you will have a blast.  There are patches they make that stick behind your ear to keep you from getting sick.  I get car sick really bad, but didn't have one issue on the cruise ship, now the charter boat was another story.  I wouldn't reccomend an interior room, at least get one with a window.  Almost all the rooms are small, but you will hardly spend any time in them.  We did a Carnival Cruise, but my parents have done several different lines, and they are all about the same.  Different ships offer different things, I would research the ships rather than the actual Cruise Line.  As far as the passport thing, there is nothing you can do to get that, he will have to do that himself.  How are you going to tell him about the cruise?  You could take him to get his passport on his birthday & surprise him that way.  August is an expensive time to travel, the fall is cheaper but than you run the risk of it being canceled/postponed because of hurricanes.
