  1. I am aware I am not answering your question but I read your other questions and saw you wanted to eventually rent somewhere not too quiet, cheap, along RER A, and not past Chatelet-les-Halles because too far from La Défense. So just a few questions:

    1) Are you aware...

... that the arrondissements you listed are the super expensive, residential (= mostly quiet) parts of Paris?

... that Gare de Lyon east of Paris is only a 14-minute RER ride to La Défense whereas most places in the western districts might be a longer commute despite the shorter distance?

... that eastern Paris is more lively and cheaper than western Paris?

... that the 7th, 15th and most of the 16th are far from RER A?

    2) Have you considered the 9th arrondissement north of Auber on RER A?

    3) Have you considered staying along métro line 1 (which goes also to La Défense) or another line with an easy transfer with line 1 or RER A?

If it was up to me and I could afford it, I would live in the St-Germain-des-Prés district (6th) or Latin Quarter (5th) which are a 20-minute ride to La Défense with only one short transfer. Or I could be happy around St-Paul on line 1. Those are expensive too but you would certainly enjoy the atmosphere if you don't want something too quiet. There are surprisingly quiet streets only a block from the lively streets whereas those rich western districts that you are thinking of can be quite dreary at night with nothing open around.

Anyway, you'll find a lot of hotels there:

And once you go and visit, you'll probably reconsider your choice of places to live to commute to la Défense. Hope this helps!

  2. Like Chocobn, I am trying to figure out what you really want/need. You have, in many questions, repeated a long list of requirements for lodging but not given us a clue as to why you have delineated these requirements.

You are apparently an English speaker who will be residing in France for at least a year and working in an office in which your co-workers will be speaking English. You may be traveling to Paris from the Philippines. It sounds as if someone has given you a list of "good" arrondissments and some simplistic directions to your place of employment.

Why not just tell us where you will be working? It would make things a lot simpler.

  3. I just stayed at Hotel de la Porte Doree, and it is really not that far from the major attractions.  It was only about a  30mn metro ride from the hotel to the Eiffel Tower.  It was really nice to get away from the center of the city and relax in the park.  Consider this: when we went out for the day, we were gone all day, and just came back to the hotel for dinner, so we didn't spend that much time on the metro.  This charming little hotel is definitely worth the small amount of extra effort.
