Needing Short-term disabilty insurance?

My husband and I are planning on having one more child in a year or so and I am looking for short-term disabilty insurance, b/c my work does not have it. Anybody know a good insurance??

  1. You are covered by State Disability if you work.  Go online and research your State's Disability program.


  2. Brian W is right, except he forgot Puerto Rico.

    I know it is not a state, but a territory.  However, they do offer benefits that are defined as 'state sponsored' in case you live there.  

  3. I would check with a local agent or broker in your town. The companies I usually recommend are The Hartford, UNUM, MetLife, and Prudential. You might also try AFLAC.. just be prepared for their agent to try and sell you a ton of other supplemental plans.

    As for the above answer.. there are only 5 states in the US that have state sponsored DI.. California, Hawaii, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.
