on the Pacific and set on the Atlantic.

The canal generates fully one-third of Panama's entire economy.

  3. Well I am not sure why you would need to know the crops and what not, but whatever. Here are a few things to add to the above answers.

Panama has become a major retirement center for gringos in the past 5 years. They have flocked here because Panama uses the US dollar, there are benefits for being retired here (Cheaper air fare, hotels, etc.) , the weather is nice, and it is cheap.

Major cities are Panama, Colon, Santiago, and David (That happens to be east to west order). Panama is the only real "city" by my standards.

The highest point is Volcan Beru (near the Costa Rican border).

Just beneath Beru is a town called Boquete. It was a major Coffee town, but now it has become Gringo central for the province of Chiriqui.

In Panama city you should never pay more then $4. NEVER. Even $4 is a lot. You will pay at least $20 to get to the airport though.

They mostly eat rice and beans with chicken, or rice and beans with pork. They don't seem to like spice or anything exotic in their food.

I am not sure what else you want to know. Brushing up on Panama's history will help you understand the country and the way it woks the best.
