Question:

Needle continues to hit plate

I just received this machine. I've checked every setting in the manual. I am able to move the needle left and right, but I am not able to move it 2 cm towards me which would allow it to move through the hole in the plate. What do I do? It keeps jamming on the plate and breaks my needles. Please help!
