i wanted to kno that if i can mix my 8 month old daughters formula with the infant benadryl (dont know how to spell it good) she had recently had her meds changed because she had a allergic reaction to her old ones and they also prescribed me infant benadryl....well everytime she takes it she pukes it all back up...so i mixed it with 3oz of formula...is that ok? reason why im asking others is to get opinions of other mothers.

  1. The only problem with doing that, is if she does not drink the entire 3 oz, she will not have got the proper dosage. Call your doc, they may have a suggestion for you.

  2. I would think it was alright but you should ask some one with medical training about medicine and babies- your baby in particular.

  3. Be very carefull mixing such medicine, I think no body here will help you on  your question,  because medicine for babies should be prescribed by pediatricians,  NO body wants to get in trouble  improving  with a baby.  this is a highly sensitive matter.

  4. It might spoil the formula

Have you tried pinching her nose a bit when you give it to her?

Baby should be able to take water.  Try 2 oz of water with the meds, maybe add a tad bit of sugar for flavor

Straight is most effective though, nose pinching always worked for me, it makes them have to swallow it.  Give the meds before the formula to avoid the formula coming up

  5. if she drinks all the formula you shouldnt have a problem.

  6. it's fine make sure she takes all 3 oz n everything will be fine just remember u can feed her the same bottle after she started and didnt finish just dont put it back in the fridge and dont reheat it everything will be good no need to waist it right

  7. I have put my son's vitamins into formula, but he hated it.  I don't think it should be a problem, though, unless he is supposed to take it on an empty stomach.  Obviously, the best thing to do is ask your Pediatrician.

  8. It's not recommended to mix it with her formula, but since she's 8 months old you can mix it in some applesauce or yogurt or something along those lines, something she likes.  Good luck.

  9. its not always a good idea to mix baby formula or food with drugs, especially if she cant keep it down. i would take her to the dorcor and ask them what they can perscribe to her. thats probably a safer idea.

  10. I still have to do that with my 4 year old's medicine. You have to give it to her, and if that is the only way, then give it to her. Her pediatrician actually suggested it to me, because at that time, she was too little for chewables.

Since then, I have been able to give her her medicine without trouble...Just now, she has smartened up, and knows the difference...On to chewables....

  11. yea mix it, but the baby may know the diffrence, honestly, and be careful with benadryl, plz!!!

  12. she probably spits it up because it tastes bad. If you are mixing it in her formula and she is holding it down then I see no problems!

i had to do the same a few times for my son....until he got older...but as a baby, if he didn't like the taste of something - it came right back up and out! :)

You could also try mixing it with baby juice or watered down juice to mask the flavor...that works as well.

  13. I put my babies medicine in his formula never have been told not to?

  14. If the benadryl says it can be taken with food then that should be perfectly fine as long as she drinks all 3 oz. however I would call your childs dr office.  They have a 24hr line with several doctors on call to answer such questions.  It is always better to check with them.  I have called them several times and they are very helpful.
