  1. Take a small spray bottle and put 50:1 2 stroke mix in it use that instead of the starting fluid.  Your carbs are dirty.  Rebuild them if your up to it.  Its really very easy.

  2. This could be an early warning that the engine has been run hard and overheated.  Run a `compression test.  I'll bet its low on one or more cylinders.

  3. SF will destroy the engine In time> So get the chock fixed>

  4. Is the choke working? Is gas flowing into the carb OK? I recommend that you take it to a mechanic and get it fixed. Long and continued ether use is not good for an engine. Sometimes has catastrophic results.

  5. if this is a 2-stroke motor and you premix in the tank, then you are slowly destroying your engine.

starter fluid has no lubricating oil.

if you wouldn't run your engine without oil, don't run it on starter fluid.

use premixed oil & gas in a bottle.

if it has an oil pump separate from the fuel pump, other words, oil & gas are mixed in the cylinder, that's a different story.

you say you use the choke, but have you ever inspected the choke plate to make sure it closes off completely?

if it'll start with starter fluid, then it will start with a properly functioning choke.

  6. sounds like the gas bowl in the carb  is leaking out the gas and flooding it out  once it starts its ok?
