Think about it, If you have a colony that started from one microbe it just used asexual reproduction to form a colony. In a case such as a bacterial colony where there isn't much "outside" contact genetic mutation will cause most of the genetic diversity.

I think number 12 is mutation. I know mutations are very common and they result in genetic diversity.
