Neftali Feliz as starter for Texas Rangers – MLB Special
After losing the 2011 World Series to St. Louis Cardinals, the Texas Rangers are now back on track with a serious objective to do some special planning before entering into a new Major League Baseball season.
The Rangers management and their high profile executives have decided to show some extra confidence on their players and giving them more responsibilities in accordance to their capabilities to go an extra mile achieving glory for their team.
Recently, the Rangers have decided to rotate their roster and moved Neftali Feliz as starter to overcome the little gap that C.J Wilson has created after becoming free agent this offseason. Wilson’s absence means the Rangers want an aggressive player as
starter for the franchise, who also holds and understands the Rangers style of play that is pretty much offensive down the stretch in every game.
The Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels and manager Ron Washington also know the importance of having a good starter for their team and have stated in the media a couple of times that the Rangers just need a good starter in the next season to achieve the
same glory of playing in the World Series.
However, now it’s high time for Neftali, who himself admits that that his manager and GM told him what they expect from him and in the future. They want the same commitment level from him and from his new role as starter. Earlier Neftali’s statement revealed
what exactly both Rangers’ executives want from this young player.
According to his statement, “Jon Daniels and Ron Washington called me a couple of days ago and told me about the team’s decision for me to be a starting pitcher next season. I was a starter for my whole career before. Its team’s decision this early, and
I have plenty of time to get ready. I have already started running. I have time to work on my changeup and all my pitches.”
Many baseball experts believe that the Rangers’ new decision bringing Neftali into the starting rotation is very good and this will improve the Rangers overall position in the MLB standings.
The bitter truth of losing the World Series is still haunting the Rangers but as soon as the new season will start the old memories will vanish and on the whole, this new change in their roster will certainly help them repeat the same performance that they
showed in the last season as they almost won it all.
One more fact adds up more flare in the Rangers late decision bringing Neftali in the starting rotation as his individual performance is not as brilliant as many are thinking at the moment. All the baseball experts agree on the fact that if you start giving
a particular player confidence to do more for his own good and at the same time for his team, that player becomes more aggressive and starts performing with full energy. Many of these same experts feel that is the same case with Neftali Feliz, who went with
2.74 ERA, along with 32 saves, 54 strike-outs and 1.16 WHIP last season. One thing is for certain, with Neftali as starter, the Texas Rangers will become a much stronger team in the next regular season.
