Question:

Neg Preg test, but no period!?

I'm 28 and my menstrual cycle has always been regular, like clockwork. My last period was on July 10th and I had my usual symptoms - i.e. breast tenderness and swelling, bloating, moodiness - 3 days before I was due (my average cycle is 28 days and I was due Aug 6th) but to date, nothing. I'm 15 days late. I took a home pregnancy test with 2 kits 2 days ago (13 days late). Results from both kits turned up negative. I have been under stress lately but I have never been this late before.

How much does a blood test for pregnancy typically cost at the doc's? How long til results on that blood test is known? Your opinion on my chances of being pregnant?

Thank you in advance.

  1. If you are under a lot of stress, that can delay your period.  I honestly don't know how much a blood test costs, because I haven't had to pay for a pregnancy test at the doctor;s office, perhaps they are free.  Depending on your circumstances, I would say it may be unlikely that you're pregnant.  If your period doesn't come by September, then you very well maybe, call your doctor and find out about the pregnancy test.  Best Wishes

  2. Stress can definetely prolong the period, that or not getting enough nutrients, the tests are usually right because they detect the hormones so I would say to just try to lower your stress (easier said than done) but doubt your pregnant

  3. You are either pregnant, or late. Two months ago that happened to me. =/ I thought I was pregnant and was happy about it. But blood started running down my leg and I freaked. We went to the hospital and the doctor told me I wasn't even pregnant. EVER. Pregnancy tests lie. Take a couple.

  4. I didn't find out I was pregnant til I was over two months because I took three pregnancy tests and they all came out negative. You should go to the doctors asap. The fourth test came out positive. I was pregnant before when I took the tests before and I didn't even know it. So sometimes the tests are wrong. I was sure I had the flu, because the tests were negative and I just wish I would have went to the doctors.
