Negative hpt's but no period???

i have been in a relationship for 5 years with the same guy but have not been on birth control during this time. (please don't lecture me on birth control, it is 99% effective, as is protection, and the side effects of birth control on me would leave me without a relationship to worry about!)

i usually start my period around the same day as the previous month or within 5 days of the previous month. my last period started july20 and ended july26. i did not have a period in august. assuming i was going to start 5 days after my previous start day, i should have started a week ago (aug25).

i have taken 2 home tests, and both were negative. i understand my period could still be late, but i have never been this late. on the flip side, both tests were a clear negative. the error proof test should be able to tell a few days before a missed period, but i'm past that...so, that leaves me to believe my period is just late.

has anyone encountered this problem? if so, what was your outcome?

i know if the test continues to be negative and my period continues to be absent, i will have to see a doctor. but i'm going to wait a week to see if the period or positive reading shows, first. i'm just starting to worry and wondering if anyone has personal experience that would give me some insight. thank you!

  1. We're in the same boat, but if you're usually no later than 5 days I would go get a blood test to see if you're pregnant or not.  I'm going through the same thing right now.  All my hp test come back negative.  I also said the same thing as you, "I'll wait until I'm a week late".  In your case, its been longer.  You shouldn't wait anymore. Go see a clinic as soon as possible.  It may be that your hCG levels aren't being picked up yet. Either way, you'll know what's going on with your body. ~Good Luck!

  2. have you been undeer any stress recently or lost alot of weight??? these can both lead to periods stopping, if not i would recommend you see your doctor!
