B. What are some good Jamaican dishes that have fish/sea food or chicken and foods with lots of vegatebles? I do not eat red meat.

C. Any live events as far as music/concerts, professional soccer games, or street fairs/craft markets? Anything that will be rocking on the weekend of May 22-26?

D. From what i have been reading here, Negril is the hot spot for night life!:) Can someone give a good list of great night clubs to ck out? I will love a great mix of venues to ck out and party with the locals or tourist alike!

  1. Okay yes there are ATM everywhere there. You can get cash from ATM as long as you have a Visa, Mastercard or Cirrus on your card. Well as far as Jamaican dishes goes there are loads of dishes to try. Steamed fish with or without Okras, national dish which is ackee and saltfish is very tasty, I love it, there is jerk chicken which is spicy but very good, oh dont worry we dont really like red meat in jamaica either so you wont have a problem with getting non red meat. There is patty which is made out of ground beef man that is good. There are just so many food to try. As far as live events around that time I am not sure but there is always something going in Jamaica every day and night, especially that you are going to Negril aka "party town". You will definately have fun there. Make sure to check out Ricks Cafe, and you might just decide that you want to jump from a cliff that people jump off of. Have fun in my country.

  2. 1) Yes they have ATM machines in Negril and most of them will give you your money in US dollars. I know once you have a cirrus card it will be accepted at the Scotiabank machines.

    2) You wont have a problem dining red meat-free in Jamaica. There is a wide variety of foods you can try; various styles of fish, shrimp, lobster, crab and chicken . My favorites are: steamed fish with okra, curried shrimp, garlic lobster and pan/jerked chicken..

3)As far as concerts are concerned I have no idea what will be on during that period but there's ALWAYS something so I wouldn't worry about that and there are various craft vendors about the town and some of the hotel gift shops have craft and souvenir items available.

    4) They're not clubs but definitely check out Rick's Cafe and the Kool Runnings Water Park(if it's open). I'm sure u'll have a blast.

Edit: I forgot to mention the Jungle Nighclub...U may wanna check that out too

  4. A. Yes there are ATMs that give u Jamaican Currency or US

    B. There are many seafood and veggie dishes to choose from. I am also a vegeterian but not Vegan.

    C. You should check out the Mango Festival in Delveland it runs on May 25, if u like Mangoes ask a local about it.

D.As for nightlife, check out Jungle, it's off the hook on Thursday night, Friday u can check out x*x it's a strip club, but no one have time to look at the girls most people I know go there for the dancing and for the weekend there will be a lot of parties going on.

Hope the info is helpfull, u will have a good time

  5. There are many ATM machines here. They dispense US dollars and Jamaican dollars too. US dollars are accepted any and everywhere so you will not have a problem or need any cambio service.

Ackee and Saltfish, Shrimp Curry, We have a lot of fish restaurants in negril and I am sure you will have too many choices as far as that is concerned. Wherever you will go will have fish and chicken. You'd probably have a harder time finding red meat here. lol.

There is a lot going on for that weekend. From May 23-25 there is a literary festival called Calabash. Since you have already booked to stay in Negril you could perhaps check it out one day. It happens in Treasure Beach which is a good while away. http://calabashfestival.org. There will be a great concert there on Saturday. Parties and clubs are always happening here in Jamaica. Plus it is a holiday weekend so things are bound to be happening. I cannot tell what will be going on in that end but a lot, trust me. If you are staying at an all-inclusive they will probably have free passes giving out to some place.
