Nehaam likely to upset Artemis Goodwood Cup (British Champions Series) (Group 2)
Straight from his mediocre Royal Ascot performance, the John Gosden trained bay gelding, Nehaam, is going to make a big upset in the Artemis Goodwood Cup (British Champions Series) (Group 2) that will be held on the 2-mile Goodwood racecourse today, August 2.
The £56,710 contest of ten runners is scheduled to begin at 3:15 (GMT). Apparently, success seems to be a tough task for the six-year-old veteran horse in the presence of the bigwigs like Simenon and Colour Vision, but he is likely to deliver an out of the box performance to thrive.
Nehaam has won 3 of his total 14 starts so far. Debuting in September 2008, he marvellously won both the first races of his career. His third victory came on July 24, 2011.
During the last September, the brilliant son of Nayef out of Charm The Stars grabbed a runner-up rank along with a third----the first was the Betfred Bundles Old Borough Cup (Handicap) while the second was Jockey Club Rose Bowl (Listed Race).
The Pollards Stables bred experienced horse stepped forward to finish 4th in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup (Group 3) at Ascot on October 15.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum owned gelding grabbed third spot in the JLT Aston Park Stakes (Listed Race) at Newbury on May 19, 2012. During the Royal Ascot event of the last month, Nehaam finished 6th against 8 rivals.
Though the experienced horse’s stats are somewhat convincing but they are not sufficient to believe that he will win today’s race as Simenon and Colour Vision look to be strong enough.
Simenon marvellously finished first in each of his last three races. After winning the Friday Evening Racing Hurdle at Cork on May 25, the W. P. Mullins trained bay gelding bagged the titles of Ascot Stakes (Handicap) and Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions Race) in two back-to-back races of the Royal Ascot festival of June.
Colour Vision accomplished two consecutive triumphs during May-June 2012. Now, the Saeed Bin Suroor trained grey gelding is looking to complete his hat-trick.
In this situation, a fierce battle is expected at Goodwood. Success is not going to be an easy task for Nehaam. Good luck to him.
