Neighbors mowed, now the neighborhood is full of mice and snakes?

They finally mowed for the first time this summer, the grass was two feet high, at least, and they actually had a swamp in the middle of it..their house is pretty trashy..

So far I have found 2 mice in my house, my outside cat killed 3 alone and I almost walked on a Cottonmouth snake outside.

Should we say anything to the people? Cause this Cowgirl is NOT happy.

  1. tell them off its there fault and you could have been killed aslo mice are chewing on your interior and tell the police

  2. yea you should or you can call the health inspector for houses or someone and complain because thats a health hazard. the neighbor next to me has the grass really high and there are weeds like higher that me(5'6) poking out into the street.

and we got mice comming in our yard too.

  3. tell them what you told us. you shouldn't have to deal with their laziness. maybe they need a couple of cats themselves.

  4. You could say something, might not do any good.  Next time they don't mow - call the city inspector or the Health Department  and report them.  Otherwise, get mouse traps and an indoor cat.

  5. you should have reported them and have the county or city people come out fine them and mow the grass and give them a bill. the mice and snakes are there anyway. i understand mowing has moved them, but my guess is there's going to be alot more, so heads up

  6. not sure if you want to complain to the neighbors usually people that let their house get that way are going to be jerks...it will be like trying to talk to a brick wall.  its sad but true.

first thing to do is to take pictures of the house so that you have evidence of how icky it is...also take at least one picture a week  so that when the yard grows back (and it eventually will) again you will have evidence of it.  if anything call yor city councilman for your district and find out exactally what numbers you call for something like this.  and do call animal control about the snake...you dont want a cottonmouth on the loose.

when we lived in texas and had a house there.  our neighborhood had a neighborhood association...they put out a little paper quarterly and there was usually a list of contact phone nubers for complaints about houses that were a health hazard.  if there is a neighborhood association where you live if you know the number to the "president" of it you could call them...they usually love getting involved in drama like this.

you could also look at it like this...pretty soon you won't have a mouse problem...snake(s) will eventually take care of the mice.

good luck...nuisance neighbors can be a pain in the backside.

  7. Just report it. If you end up talking them.. you never know they may get mad an stuf will happen

  8. just report them to environmental health

  9. Call animal control and explain what happened. Or the department of housing. They'll talk to the owners about the situation.

  10. Call the local health dept.  These living conditions are not acceptable in any neighborhood
