  1. Most towns have noise ordinances that limit when you can do loud construction, usually not before 8 or 9 in the morning and not after 9 at night.  Check with your local police department or construction code enforcement office.

  2. Hammering in the age of drill drivers is really old school. I switched over 15 years ago. Drill drivers use construction screws that will hold 2X4's more strongly with less screws - and if you need to, you can take it apart. They are extremely quiet.

Buy him the Ryobi drill driver set in 18V with the cordless saw. It comes with 2 batteries and a charger, about $100. No more hammering, and you get to borrow it, too. Cheap for the peace of mind, and you did something positive to modify his behavior rather than call the cops. If he can't get that hint, putting the heat on later is greatly justified - " I even bought him a drill driver to stop the hammering!" will go over pretty well with the responding officer.

BTW, are you home 24/7? Would getting out some help?

  3. why don't you start making noise too? like music..maybe someday he will be bothered also...and asks you to stop ur noise! hahaha

  4. go and kick his butt

  5. The only thing you can do is call the police on him when he is making noise at inappropriate times until he gets the message and stops.

    Good Luck

  6. Wolfatrest has the proper answer..if he is remodeling within the appropriate time allowed by law..there is nothing you can do..here it is 7 am untill 9 pm except Sunday it is like 10 am..Hey alot of people cannot afford to hire contractors  after buying a house/apartment or possibly he is planning on Flipping it. Who can afford contractors when we are in such an unstable financial situation throughout the USA? He is well within reason to buy a place and make it look good.My answer may not be the best according to your eyes, but hey, It's the truth..he has the right to make his place look good and do improvements...Would you like to be able to upgrade your house without being hassled?

  7. Request him politely that hammering is disturbing you. If his response is positive well and good otherwise report to the local authority who will approach him themselves to do his job while taking care of your discomfort.
