Question:

Neil Armstrong.... why

I could spend hours, days, even weeks talking to this guy. I was only one year old when he set foot on the moon... And since the age of five, this guy has fascinated me.

Being that person "THE ONE" "THE FIRST" what went..or even, what is still going through this guys mind? He holds the knowledge I crave for. Of all people, why does he have to be a recluse ?

( I would not swap my Grand dad for the world, but I am sure Neil Armstrong has a few good bed time story's of his own)

ps.. please don't reply if you do not believe in the moon landings. thank you.

  1. I have an acquaintance who knows Neil Armstrong very well.  He and I talked quite a bit about him one day (we happened to be on a tour at Kennedy Space Center).  He describes Neil more as a guy who was just doing his job and never one to chase the spotlight.  It just isn't in his nature, he's more of a "Just doing my job" type.

That being said, he has been more willing to be interviewed on camera, especially by NASA, as they are trying to document as much as they can about astronauts personal experiences on the moon before their eventual passing.

  2. he is a private man, but he is very nice. there are some videos on youtube with Neil speaking at events. he has done some little interviews in recent years. but he's just another guy, too. a great pilot, but he's just a person, a reclusive one. all the astronauts have some good fish tales about their space stuff.

  3. I think he has a biography at wikipedia.com i really want to know what NASA wont let him say too.

  4. I agree what is or was going through his mind? Then again we know the obvious things; wow look @ this! what am i doing? what if i kill myslef?. You know the obvious things every1 would be thinking.

Even if you wanted to know what he was tyhinking otherwise you mostlikly wouldn't ever know. NASA would be all over him for sharing secrets that may lurk w/ in the world that no1 will tell use about.

dont u think we should know what is going on in the world? whats REALLY IN SPACE? did he see..."aliens" and no1 is going to say a word 4 many years? that is the problem w/ the world. we dont know ANYTHING.

  5. "Armstrong's authorized biography, First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, was published in 2005. For many years, Armstrong turned down biography offers from authors such as Stephen Ambrose and James A. Michener. He agreed to work with James R. Hansen after reading one of Hansen's other biographies" (Wikipedia).  I expect that you could learn a great deal from reading this.

The article on him in Wikipedia also explains his reluctance to be a celebrity, although "recluse" is an overstatement.

As to why there are moon landing deniers, just like Holocaust deniers and evolution deniers, I simply do not understand.

  7. Neil saw things on the moon he is not allowed to talk about. If he give interviews, NASA will make him disappear.

  8. how he lives his life is his own decision.

nasa knew that mr. armstrong was a quiet, humble, ego-less sort of man, and that's what they needed: somebody who would get on with the job and not get distracted.

  9. Neil Armstrong is an American Hero.... and yes, we'd like to hear everything about his first man on the moon trip... but he's also a humble man, and one who hates the fact that people remember HIS name, but  not so easily, that of the 'other guys' who went there, too.... he had deeply moving moments there that showed him his own size and 'worth', showed him a glorious world on which he lived, gave him occasions that he couldn't even PUT into words... highly emotional and terribly private....I can understand that the whole trip was more personal than he really wants to or can share.... so he keeps quiet... what's so unusual about that?.... these were the days before YouTube, ya know, when you could still keep some things to yourself!!!... there's no UFO conspiracy involved in his silence... he's just not convinced that what he thought or felt is anyone else's BUSINESS!!!... that makes him even better in my book!!....he stopped giving autographs, which really upset some folks, because he found them being sold for a lot of money on Ebay.... he seems to feel he's just a regular guy and not so special, no more than any one else.... if you did get him to sit down to talk, he'd talk more about his fave charities and his work than himself.... keep hoping.....

  10. Neil Armstrong was the perfect choice to be first on the moon.

The very fact that he has shyed away from the media just makes me respect him all that much more. Imagine Neil and his family constantly on the cover of those tabloids at the checkout stand at grocery stores,

it would be a disgrace to his honor and to NASA.

The media is like a circus, and I'm glad Neil has been no part of it.
