Neil Caskey claims gold medal of Men’s 200 yard butterfly: Day three – 2011 Texas Invitational
Neil Caskey of Texas served notice of his talent by claiming gold medal of the Men’s 200 yard butterfly event on the third day of the 2011 Texas Invitational on Saturday, December 3rd.
The meet concluded at the aquatic centre of University of Texas in Austin. The session completed after the finals of 200 yard butterfly and 4*100 yard freestyle relay in Men’s and Women’s corner.
Caskey demonstrated his smothering efforts in the final of Men’s 200 yard butterfly event. With his immaculate stroke and invincible efforts, he shattered hopes of his opponents throughout the 200 yard event and reached the podium for gold medal.
Caskey posted a phenomenal effort of 1 minute and 44.29 seconds to capture the crown of the event. However, her wonderful effort remained just 1.34 seconds slower than the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)’s qualifying mark of 1 minute and
42.95 seconds.
The gold medallist was trailed by Dan Lester of Wisconsin, who remained 0.76 seconds slower than him on the finishing wall and reached the podium for silver medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 45.05 seconds. He was followed by Matt Barber of Arizona,
who was just a stroke away from his former finisher. Barber remained just 0.40 seconds slower than Lester and secured the podium for bronze medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 45.45 seconds.
Next was the final of Women’s 4*100 yard freestyle relay, where the relay team of Arizona proved its eligibility for the title. Team Arizona remained exactly one second ahead of its following team and hit the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 12.76 seconds
for gold medal.
It was followed by Stanford’s relay squad that climbed the medal rostrum for silver medal by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 13.76 seconds. The third spot of the event was claimed by relay team of Texas that remained nearly two seconds slower from their
former finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 15.00 seconds.
The last event of the session was equivalent event in Men’s category, where USC’s squad capture the title of the event with a timing of 2 minutes and 51.85 seconds. The second position of the relay event was secured by team Texas, which remained 0.48 seconds
slower than its preceding finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 52.33 seconds. Arizona’s relay team ended third as it reported a time of 2 minutes and 53.34 seconds.
The crowd admired tremendous efforts of all finalists in their exclusive events while the podium finishers were invited on the victory stand for their awards and accolades after the conclusion of final session.
