Neil Lennon thinks Martin O’Neill should manager Sunderland
Neil Lennon, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Northern-Ireland-c2972 international, backed former manager Martin O’Neill for the manager’s post at English Premier League side Sunderland. The Black Cats recently sacked manager Steve Bruce, which is why Sunderland are looking for a replacement
and the likes of Martin O’Neill and Mark Hughes have been linked with the job.
It is no secret that the club have already approached O’Neill and Lennon, who is currently managing Celtic, felt it would be great for both the manager and the club if Martin O’Neill took the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. Lennon was confident the manager had what it took to lead
the club out of their poor form.
Lennon said while speaking to reporters:
“He has a penchant for lifting clubs. Sunderland is a huge club and I know that as a boy growing up, it was his favourite team, so there might be an emotional tie there for him.”
But I think he is just ready to get back into the game and if he is offered the job, whether he takes it or not, I hope that if that is what he wants to do, we will see him back in the Premier League sooner rather than later.”
Meanwhile Ryan Taylor, a defender at Newcastle United, had previously played under Steve Bruce at Wigan Athletic and admitted he was saddened to see his former manager sacked. However, the 27-year-old English defender admitted things like this happened in
football.
Taylor said in an interview:
“I was sorry to see Steve go; he did well for me over my career when I was at Wigan.”
According to Taylor, the game was about getting results and unfortunately for Bruce, Sunderland had not been managing great results over the time he was in charge. They are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
