Neil Robertson. Aussie  first ever Snooker title:
Neil Robertson became the first Aussie ever to win World Snooker Championship. After defeating Scottish battler Graeme Dott in the Betfred finals at The Crucible on May 04, 2010 he became No. 2 in the World Ranking. Throughout the game last night Neil Robertson kept his spirit and stood victorious after beating Graeme Dott 18-13 frames. Robertson is the second overseas to lift the World Championship after Cliff Thorburn.
Overnight the score was 9-7 frames to the Aussie, even though Dott got to within one frame short but still was not able to level the frame or lead. As the clock ticked past midnight and the night wore on, tension started to grow among the players especially Dott suffered the most as he was way behind Neil Robertson. On the other hand Robertson also struggled to cross the finish line, but still he managed to keep his mind totally focused on the game.
Robertson was delighted by the biggest win of his career when he received a £250,000 cheque. Robertson who was 13-5 down to Martin Gould in the second round fought back and eventually reached the finals.
“My mom joined me in the finals when she traveled from Australia while I was leading the quarter-finals and this makes the win even more special,” said Neil Robertson. “Australians love World Champions and if I had lost in the finals it would have been appalling. Optimistically this will start something special in Australia now.”
On the other hand Dott played his best game after a long time to reach the Final and confessed he was beaten by the better player. "I needed to be in the semis so that I could again be in the top 16 and I’ve done that and I hope to come back next year to win the title,” said Graeme Dott.
Graeme Dott who won the 2006 championship was down 9-7 frames the overnight. He fired a magnificent 79 break and closed the match with 9-8 frame.  Robertson won the 18th frame on the final pink and black, helped by a 49 break, again restoring a two frame gap. It even got better when Neil Robertson won the next frame with a break of 81.
At the point a swift reply was needed from Dott to get in the game. Dott No. 28 immediately closed the gap again with the help of a fine 112 break and left the match finely balanced. It was 12-11 when the first match of the evening ended with Dott winning it. At that time it looked as Graeme Dott will finally level with Robertson or even take lead but the odds turn over when Robertson pulled back to two frames front with a run of 55.
The next frame lasted for 45 minutes and was a pinnacle moment for the players. Still Dott didn’t summit and carried on and again closed the match with 15-13 frame. This was his last success; Neil Robertson after that ruled on from there and won the next three frames with final score 18-13 frames.
