Neil Robertson believes Ken Doherty is a clever player: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former World Snooker Champion from Australia, Neil Robertson has been a consistent player in the recent snooker season as he took some minor and major snooker events during his campaign. The Aussie feels all set for any challenge in the 2012 World Snooker
Championship. He has been placed against the former World Champion, Ireland’s Ken Doherty in the opening round of the tournament.
The Aussie potter has played against the Irishman before and knows his strengths and abilities. He believes that the Irishman is a clever potter and plays a safe game during his matches that is why he needs to be a bit careful while playing Doherty at the
same baize. Last time Robertson faced Doherty in the third round of the 2011 Snooker Shootout where he was victorious by the score line of 63-13.
While speaking to the media, Robertson said, “Ken is still battling to stay at the top of the game and has got a wealth of experience. He’s a different sort of player and can put you under a lot of pressure. With Ken it’s more about great safety and clever
play.”
The Aussie added, “My tactical game has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, but against someone like Ken I’d probably still give him the edge in a tactical battle. It’s the most consistent and most prolific form I’ve had going into the world championships.”
The Thunder from Down Under clinched his first world title after beating Graeme Dott in the final encounter of the 2010 World Snooker Championship. After that he tumbled down a little but still managed to stay in the Top 16. The recent season was a tremendous
journey for the Victorian potter as he clinched some important event titles including the 2012 Masters.
Robertson now feels well prepared for the Championship as he has been practising hard on the table to face any challenge during his run. His opening round clash will be quite thrilling because Doherty has been in good shape in the recent season. It will
be interesting to see how Robertson manages to perform against Doherty.
