Neil Robertson defeats Ding Junhui to claim PartyCasino.com Premier League Snooker 3 title
Australia’s Neil Robertson showed some blistering performance against China’s Ding Junhui in the final match up of 2011 PartyCasino.com Premier League Snooker 3 at Ravenscraig Sports Facility in Motherswell, Scotland, to claim the title by the score line
of 3-1. The Chinese had no chance to encounter the dominance of the Aussie potter during the game.
The former World Snooker Champion reached the final encounter after beating current world snooker champion, John Higgins, whitewashing him by 3-0 in the semi-final. The Aussie played outstandingly well against the Scotsman to make his entry in the ultimate
battle against the Chinese. He played some excellent knocks of 57, 69 and 87, respectively, to nudge the Scot down during the semi-final clash.
On the other hand, Junhui had a tussling game against Englishman, Shaun Murphy in the semi-final, as he had to face strong resistance from him. However, he certainly played some sensible shots during the frames to back him in the match. He pocketed some
superb knocks of 92, 87 and 80, respectively, to unsettle his opponent and win by the score line of 3-2.
World Number Four cueist, Junhui, grabbed an early lead in the final encounter with the first scrappy frame victory by 56-63 on a re-spotted black ball. However, the Aussie bounced back into the match after that and swept the table in no time. He won the
second frame by 140-0, nearly missing the maximum in one visit. He took the third frame win at 118-0 with the help of a 109 knock, followed by an easy frame by 54-42 to win the match.
While speaking to local media after his victory, Robertson said, “The way I played in both matches was good. I had a lot of work to do from last season which wasn't really acceptable and I've worked hard on practice table. I was really pleased with how I
played and to win two frames with back to back centuries was very satisfying, and to make a 140 in this type of format is something.”
He added, “I've tried lots of formulas in the Premier League over the last few years but this time I just got on with it and didn't look at the clock.”
With this victory, Robertson has joined the top standings along with Matthew Stevens, Mark Williams and Shaun Murphy.
