Neil Robertson defeats Nigel Bond in the last 32 of the 2011 Welsh Open – Snooker news
The thunder from the down under, Neil Robertson, has beaten Nigel Bond in the last 32 at the 2011 Welsh Open by a frame score of 4-2 to reach the last 16.
Neil Robertson could not play well in the start as he was found missing easy chances and on the other hand Nigel Bond was making some pretty good long pots.
In the first frame, Neil got a chance first but he broke down on 14 before Nigel Bond completely dominated the frame with a marvellous century break, 102, and took the opening frame 1-0.

Similarly in the second frame, Bond again got a chance to be among the reds but this time he gave his opponent a chance after potting 37 points but Robertson reprieved and another 8 points were added by Bond. Robertson in his next visit snookered Bond
to get a couple of fouls before making a break of 42. Bond also did likewise and got the given points back before knocking in the pink to lead Robertson even ahead by 2-0.
In the third frame, Robertson played a poor shot on the blue ball giving Bond a chance again but he was lucky to get back on the table as Bond could only roll in 48. Robertson this time was toiling his rhythm when he again missed a cut on the black
ball after making 31 points giving his opponent a match winning chance this time, which was once again not capitalised by Bond as he broke on 16 and snookered Robertson to get a couple of fouls again. The game eventually went on the last three colours blue,
pink, and black from where Robertson finally pocketed his first frame to trail 2-1.
There could have been a shock on the cards before Robertson got his rhythm back and dominated the next two frames with breaks of 81 and 130 respectively leading ahead by one frame at 3-2.
In the sixth frame, Nigel Bond fought a bit to equal the scores as he was on the run after getting a chance and was leading by 54 points when there were 67 left on the table but snooker did not come for him that day and a glorious chance to Robertson
was given.
Robertson brought a red off the cushion and then the balls were at his mercy. Finally, the Australian was able to clinch the victory after knocking in the last pink and black.
Robertson has gone through to the last 16 now where he awaits Graeme Dott on 17 February to fight for the quarter-final.
