Neil Robertson disappointed over his performance in 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
Previous snooker season was a convincing finish for the former World Snooker Championship winner from Australia, Neil Robertson as he was able to claim some important events during his run. This included the 2012 Masters snooker tournament and a couple of
events in the Players Tour Championship (PTC), Premier League Snooker (PLS) and the Championship League Snooker (CLS).
The Aussie potter, however, was unable to make an appearance in the first major ranking snooker tournament in Australia, the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open where he lost in the second round at the hands of Dominic Dale by the score line of 5-4. The Aussie
was quite disappointed over his defeat in the tournament because he was considered as the top contender to claim the title.
Meanwhile, he entered the new snooker season with the hope to improve his ranking as well as grab some noticeable tournaments. He took part in the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament but was not able to move forward and crashed out of the tournament in
the first round at the hands of Jamie Burnett by the score line of 5-1.
He tried his luck once again in the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open event at the Bendigo Stadium arena in Victoria but failed to make it to the expectations and faced the same result he did last year, losing in the second round from Mark Davis by 5-1. It
was quite disappointing for the Thunder from Down Under as he was expecting a different but good result this year.
He spoke to World Snooker about his defeat, “That was really unfortunate because I played really well in my first match, then my second match didn't start until 10pm and I didn't deal with that well. But it's a long season and I hope to get going soon and
start winning titles again.”
He is now all set to face his challenger in the upcoming 2012 Shanghai Masters snooker tournament where he will be facing the winner of wild card round match between Fergal O’Brien and Chen Feilong. Before that he has to take part in the 2012 World Snooker
European Tour’s Players Tour Championship event in Stage 1.
