Neil Robertson feels happy to play in Australia: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
First round clashes of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Opens are underway at the Bendigo Stadium arena in the city of Victoria, Australia. So far the competition has produced some outstanding clashes between the top guns of the game to formulate the second
round line-up. The event is receiving a lot of support and positive response from the people of Victoria who came to watch their favourite players in action.
Winner of the 2010 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, Australia’s Neil Robertson played tremendously in his first round clash against the Englishman Nigel Bind and claimed his first victory of the tournament by the score line
of 5-1. The clash was an easy win for the Aussie potter as he was in full swing against the Englishman and did not give him any chance to overpower him during the game.
Playing once again on his home soil is indeed a pleasure for the Thunder from Down Under as he feels excited to play in front of his home crowd. He believes that he never gets under pressure when he plays in Australia. Last year, the Australian Goldfields
Open snooker event received a lot of appreciation from the snooker lovers around the world which made Robertson happy to see the sport being promoted in his country.
While speaking to World Snooker after his match he said, “I thought I played really well, the first four frames were absolutely exceptional. I could have had four centuries. I made two and had two other nineties.”
He added, “It's really special to be playing in Australia, it's something that I've always dreamed of: playing in front of a home, Australian, crowd. I've got all my family up here as well and all my closest friends, it's fantastic to catch up with everyone,
I'm just really enjoying the experience.”
After the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event, this year’s Aussie event is also missing two four-time World Snooker Championship winners, John Higgins and Ronnie O’Sullivan. It will be interesting to see what impact Robertson can make in the tournament as he
looks good and seems to be in tremendous form.
