Neil Robertson not happy with defeat against Mark Davis: 2012 Australian Goldfields Open
Winner of the 2012 Masters snooker event and the former World Snooker Championship winner, Australia’s Neil Robertson was quite hopeful before the start of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open. He started off brilliantly in the initial round of the tournament
and claimed his first victory to set up Mark Davis second round game at the Bendigo Stadium arena.
Robertson was quite hopeful of continuing his superb run in the tournament. He began his second round game campaign with a classy snooker break of 88 points which brought him in the lead of 0-1 score line up. However, after that he failed to improvise accordingly
in the game and tumbled down in the match losing to Davis.
The first session of the match was totally dominated by Davis claiming three consecutive frames in reply to Robertson’s first frame win. Robertson was under immense pressure as the Englishman was producing impressive game play.
Davis claimed the first two sets of the second session to ensure his victory over the Aussie potter. Robertson was quite disappointed over his performance in the match as he was unable to perform according to the hopes of his snooker fans.
In his post match interview with World Snooker, Robertson said, “I got off to a flier with an 80-odd break in the first frame, then in the second frame I'm on 39, the balls are absolutely perfect, it appears as if it's more or less a guaranteed century,
I'm definitely going 2-0 up, but I got a huge kick on the black and things just seemed to go against me after that.”
The Thunder from Down Under added, “It's always disappointing to lose and I guess it is more disappointing to go out on home soil.”
Robertson will be hoping to improve his game-play and build up some confidence to become more competitive in the new snooker season.
Davis has now booked his place in the quarter-final stage of the tournament where he will be facing compatriot Martin Gould. The clash is expected to be one of the tussling games because Gould in good form and can trouble Davis in the next game.
