Neil Robertson ousts Jack Lisowski in Round 2 of 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals – Snooker News
England’s Jack Lisowski had a tussling encounter against the 2012 Snooker Shootout winner, compatriot Barry Hawkins to beat him 4-3 and move into the second round against Australia’s Neil Robertson. However, the young Englishman was unable to beat the former
World Snooker Champion and tumbled down as the Aussie breezed into the second round victory by the score line of 4-1.
The Last-16 clash of 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Grand Finals at the Bailey Allen Hall arena in Galway, Ireland was an easy win for the left-handed Victorian potter. Robertson gave no chance to the youngster to move up in the score line. He kept
the pressure on the World Number 45 until he dragged him three frames down at 4-1 in the end.
The game was not one of the most interesting clashes as both potters played with easy hands making several silly mistakes. The 2012 Masters snooker tournament winner, Robertson, had a superb lead in the first scrappy frame and grabbed an early 1-0 lead.
The Aussie cruised past the English potter in the next two frames and hit the 3-0 lead. Lisowski fought back brilliantly in the fourth frame but it was not enough from him as the Thunder from Down Under won the fifth frame to finish the game by 4-1.
After his victory, Robertson spoke to World Snooker, “I started well in each frame but got to 30 or 40 then made a mistake. The first couple of frames could have gone either way and I had a bit of luck. I wasn't convincing so it was just a case of doing
whatever I had to do to win.”
The 30-year-old added, “We both missed balls, and when you start trying too hard it makes it worse. Jack's got loads of talent and I'm sure we'll see a lot of him but he'll be disappointed not to have put on a better show tonight. I just had a bit of a dip
but hopefully I can pick it up again this week.”
Robertson will next meet England’s Joe Perry in the quarter-finals of the 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals at the same venue.
