A superb performance by left-arm seamer Neil Wagner helped Otago win their Plunket Shield match against Wellington by an innings and 138 runs on Wednesday. The match was played at the Queenstown Events Centre in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
Otago captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Derek-de-Boorder-c1359 batted
brilliantly and scored an unbeaten 122 runs for his team, while Cumming also played a superb knock of 91.
Andy McKay was the pick of the bowlers for Wellington, as he grabbed three wickets whereas http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ili-Tugaga-c1577 took two.
Wellington lost their opener Stephen Murdoch early in the innings. He managed to score just six runs before he was undone by an in-dipper form http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stewart-c91370 Rhodes batted sensibly, guiding the
visitors to 112 with an 89-run partnership.
The Wellington first-drop wasn’t able to carry onto the start he got to his innings, as he was dismissed for 35 off 122 balls. He played steadily, but would have liked to score a big one for his team. Boam’s wicket was followed by the dismissal of captain

The visitors were 136 for three at one stage, but they lost six batsmen without adding a single run to the total after that. All of a sudden, the team was in tatters with nine down for 136, courtesy a thunderous spell from Neil Wagner.
The South African born seamer took five wickets in just one over. His first victim was the well set opener Rhodes, who got out after scoring 77 runs. Four other batsmen fell for a duck after that and Wellington were bundled out for 148 in their first innings.

Following on, the visitors weren’t able to recover from the shock of their first innings slump, and were bowled out for 155 runs. None of the batsmen were able to threaten the home team’s bowlers. Elliot was the innings top scorer with 61 runs, but he failed
to help his team avoid an innings defeat.
