Neil Warnock believes Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers can achieve success
Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock believes that Brendan Rodgers will succeed at Championship side Swansea.
Rodgers served his apprenticeship under Chelsea boss Jose Mouriniho before he moved to take over as Watford boss in 2009.
The 37-year-old saved the Championship side from relegation, but he left the club after only seven months to join Reading in a move that caused a lot of bitterness at Vicarage Road.
Warknock believes that the move was a mistake and said, “He's made some bad decisions, but I've a lot of time for him."
"Brendan's a good young manager and he's like any young manager. You learn by experience,” added the QPR manager who was speaking after Swansea held his side to a 0-0 draw.
Rodgers only lasted six months in the Reading job after he could only win five games out of 21 league matches.
Warnock said, "You learn by your mistakes and Swansea are going to benefit from his bad decisions as he's got things to prove."
Currently, Swansea are in sixth position, while QPR top the league. The Welsh side have won six of their 12 games and Rodgers will be hopeful that they can compete for a promotion place at the end of the season.
Warnock believes that Rodgers has the ability to guide Swansea into the Premiership.
"He's got a lovely team, a lovely club. I'm a big admirer of [Garry] Monk, their captain, and the way they are, the way they go about their business."
Warnock admitted that there were a number of sides that could gain promotion and that Swansea and QPR had a great chance of playing in the Premier League next season.
"We are where we are," he added. "I think there's eight teams above the rest if I'm honest. I'm sure Brendan feels the same, I love having a team that can go anywhere and win."
