Neil Warnock blasts referee http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oliver-c28477 decisions in QPR’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa – EPL News
Queen Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 boss Neil Warnock has blasted the controversial match officiating by Michael Oliver, claiming that the Rangers should have been given two penalties in the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at Loftus Road.
QPR conceded a goal in contentious circumstances midway through the second half. The Rangers left back, Armand Traore, was declared to have fouled Aston Villa striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gabriel-Agbonlahor-c14288 inside the penalty box. Despite it being slightest of touches,
Michael Oliver pointed directly towards the spot and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barry-Bannan-c7309 stepped forward to put the Villans in the lead.
However, Warnock was more disappointed over Oliver’s refusal to award QPR two penalties after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-Hutton-c4253 appeared to have handed the ball inside the 8-yard box.
The former Sheffield United manager believes that his side deserved at least a penalty against Aston Villa.
He told the reporters, “I think the first one [Hutton handball], the statistician’s gave it down as a save, not handball, I think he’s saved that. Hutton deliberately hand balls it and the second one, we’re told that if you raise your hands it’s a
handball and he’s raised his hands against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tommy-Smith-c35389.”
Warnock branded match official Oliver’s decision as ‘embarrassing’ and added, “The first one is embarrassing, how that cannot be given as a penalty, he can’t even say he’s in a bad position, my boys deserve better than that.”
He also expressed his displeasure over the penalty decision which went against his side when Traore was adjudged to have fouled Agbonlahor in the second half. The Rangers boss believes it was a very soft decision awarded to Aston Villa and could have
been easily overlooked.
“I’ve never seen anything like that, he blows up, he wants to give the penalty and that’s wrong,” Neil Warnock concluded.
Queen Park Rangers are yet to register a win at their home ground in the current campaign. However, the London outfit is currently placed eighth in the league table with eight points from six matches.
The Rangers will play their next match against local rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage on October 2 2011.
