Which would have a more lasting impact on the society as a whole? America going back to the "gold standred." Or every WalMart across America shutting their doors forever. Which would be better? worse? WHY!!!!!!!!!

when walmart closes - all small bizness will blossom again.  maybe more unemployment but the individual spirit will grow.  

gold standard is going back to the future - with another new system of finance.  why not hv an international currency.  when u get rid of  foreign exchange u get rid of all these problems we r facing now.  ya - gold can be used as collateral.  on single currency look at www.bahai.org and type single currency.  i read it and its possible.  also read prof john hatcher - arc of ascent - giving us ideas of how to move to a new world order gradually, of course.

Believe it or not, but I think that going back on the gold standard would have a impact on society, adversely at that, than if all the Wal-Marts were to close forever. Some other chain would rise to the top and take the place of them, while we no longer hold enough gold to cover all of our debts, much less redeem our paper money for like value on the free market. Therefore to return to the gold standard would have a bigger impact on our society and a ripple effect on the world too, all of it bad. We all live day to day on IOU's issued for all kind of reasons, by governments, people, everything. Sort of like a world wide barter system, tracked by paper IOU's. Think about it sometime.
