and the gap between the two was 37 seconds.
Mulally told the media, "This was the first time I'd raced slalom all year and I really enjoyed it. It was tight racing and the crowd was huge, which made for a fun night of riding. The crowd was so loud I could hardly hear the cadence in the gate!"
As per his age Neko was placed in the Junior category in the downhill Championships and he was able to gain a lead of 11 seconds over Austin Warren (Alpine, CA) in the final circuit. Ray Syron (Rockport, MA) was in third place while Cody Kelley (Riverton,
UT) finished fourth.
Although, his team-mate Aaron Gwin who was a World Cup overall winner in 2011, he got caught up in a crash in the Elite Men’s and grabbed second place. Neko covered the distance of the race in 2 hours, 43 minutes and 2 seconds and won the Elite Men’s title
but will have to wait until the next year to contest the Elite race as per rules.
He further added, "The National Champs were something I have been looking forward to all year. It was a fun atmosphere down in North Carolina. So many familiar faces and good people around."
He mentioned that his friend Christopher Herndon have done a splendid job and has trained hard to get used to the weather which helped quite a bit. The downhill track was hard for the cyclists and Mulally had a good run and posted the fastest time.
