Nelson Cruz’ six RBIs help Texas Rangers humiliate Florida Marlins 15-5 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ right-fielder, Nelson Cruz shined throughout the game as he went 2-for-5 with an average of .240 and hit six RBIs in the Rangers’ 15-5 victory against the Florida Marlins at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on July 1.
During the first inning, Emilio Bonifacio was grounded out to first base and Gaby Sanchez struck-out swinging. The Rangers’ batters struggled with the bat at the bottom of the first inning as Ian Kinsler flied out towards left-field, Adrian Beltre struck-out
swinging and Elvis Andrus flied out to right-field.
The Rangers posted their initial run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead when Michael Young scored one run on the double-run shot of Taylor Teagarden towards deep left-centre. The Rangers’ offence stepped on the gas to post quick four runs and extended
their lead 5-0 during the third inning.
Andrus added a single run when Beltre singled to centre-field and Josh Hamilton moved to third base rapidly. Cruz struck a three-run homer (439 feet) to right-centre field while Hamilton and Beltre both scored two runs jointly to end the four-run campaign.
In the fourth inning, the Rangers’ batters took two runs to get a 7-0 lead.
At the bottom of the fourth inning, Endy Chavez and Teagarden both added two runs when Beltre drove a double-run shot towards right-field. The pitchers controlled the runs during the fifth inning. Alexi Ogando permitted just two runs on five hits in his
six innings pitched and struck-out eight batters. He gave up two walks on 102 pitches.
In the sixth inning, Andrus and Hamilton both posted two combined runs to lift the Rangers 9-0. On the other side, the Marlins scored their initial two runs to reduce their lead 9-2 in the seventh inning when Hanley Ramirez and Logan Morrison added two runs.
The Rangers took a 15-2 lead during the eighth inning when the batters hit six runs.
Andres Blanco homered (406 feet) to right-field while Carlos Gentry, Beltre, Young, Andrus and Cruz each singled to complete six run-eighth inning. Brett Hayes hit a solo homer (370 feet) to left-field while Wes Helms and Bonifacio posted the last three
runs of the game during the ninth inning and ended 15-5.
The Rangers won the first game out of the three-game series at Texas.
