Nelson McCausland assures Ireland of complete support against the ICC
Decision of international cricket council regarding the future of associations has been highly criticized by chief executive of cricket Ireland Warren Deutrom.
Adding more flavour to the current drama sports minister of Ireland Nelson McCausland stepped in the matter.
McCausland provided full assurance to the Chief executive of Ireland cricket board in writing.
The letter specified that the Chief executive will receive full backing of the sports ministry concerning his decision of challenging the ICC ruling.
The International cricket council, after ICC world cup 2011 tournament, decided to conduct the 2015 world cup only with the presence of the ten test playing nations. This resulted in a war of words of between ICC and Chief executive of Ireland cricket board.
Ireland after their impressive performance in World cup 2011 is defending the associations publically.
They are of the view that World Cup is the only platform that provided them with an opportunity of proving their talent.
McCausland is currently designated as the sports minister of Ireland.
Several senior players and analysts have backed the associates, believing that a World Cup without them will not be as interesting and lucrative as the recent one.
According to reports, the ICC president Mr. Sharad Pawar had requested the governing body of the International cricket council to revisit the whole situation again. Sharad’s initiative was fully backed and applauded by cricket fans in Ireland.
On the other hand McCausland expressed his disappointment in these words "As minister with responsibility for sport in Northern Ireland, I feel I must write to you to express my deep unhappiness at the recent ICC decision to restrict qualification to the
2015 World Cup to the 10 full ICC members"
Governing body of the International council will meet again in June to review their decision regarding the next World Cup.
Chances of the Council reversing its earlier decision are slim, however, after protests by the associate nations, their international lobby and intervention of Sharad Pawar will play a pivotal role in influencing the situation politically.
McCausland adding more to his current initiative said that “Whilst cricket is by no means the biggest or most popular sport in Northern Ireland, it is certainly a significant force in sport here with a large and growing local following"
The sports minister also mentioned that the government in Northern Ireland has taken up cricket as a serious future prospect since the sport, in a short span of time, has accumulated a huge local fan following, especially after they saw their home team beating
the English team in a close encounter.

The government in Northern Ireland has also allotted a handsome amount of budget for the development of cricket in their region.
