He was hired by the Renault F1 team and he raced in the 2008 season to a modest success. Piquet Jr., the son of legendary Brazilian race car driver Nelson Piquet, then only raced for half of the 2009 season. The reason was that he was one of the major parties involved in what was dubbed, the Crashgate scandal by the media.
