Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand to play against Aston Villa
Sir Alex Ferguson recently confirmed that both of his first choice centre backs, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 will be fit for Manchester United’s upcoming English Premier League tie against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
The Reds’ manager confirmed participation of Ferdinand and Vidic in their upcoming league encounter against Villa in his interview to Manchester United’s official website.
Sir Alex said, “Vidic should be alright. Rio started running on Thursday and hopefully will be okay by Tuesday. Rafael should also be okay, he got the all-clear on Friday [after suffering concussion at Blackpool] and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231 had a family bereavement
so we left him out at Southampton.”
Manchester United will be hoping that they can continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League and in doing so, retain their five-point lead at the top of the English League table.
However, they will face strict competition from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Houllier’s side who earlier on in the 2010-11 season almost ended United’s unbeaten run at Villa Park. Aston Villa led the match by two goals to nil but United scored two late goals through Federico
Macheda and Vidic to come away with the share of the spoils.
Manchester United’s home form has been impervious of late. In their last home game, Ferguson’s men battered Birmingham City by five goals to nil as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 notched up his third hat trick of the season.
Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are the backbone of United’s defence which has been solid every time the Serbian accompanied the serene Englishman for the Red Devils.
Not only that, Ferguson will be hoping that both the old timers retain their fitness levels as United enter February 2011, a month where they have UEFA Champions League commitments.
United are scheduled to play against Marseille in the round of sixteen of the UEFA Champions League and Ferguson will be gunning to get his team into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
