Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic had been linked with a move to Italian side Juventus, earlier in the transfer window. However, the player’s agent has finally come forth and gone on to blast these rumours and labelled them as nothing more than rubbish.
Vidic had been a long term target for the Italian side and they had been sniffing around, looking for a window of opportunity to land him.
Following his move to United in 2006, Vidic has gone on to make a name for himself and is often regarded to be one of the best, if not the best defender in the world.
Nonetheless, the player’s representatives have now gone on to rubbish the possibility of the twenty nine year old, Serbian international leaving the team to join the Turin based club.
When talking about the player and his future, his representative is reported to have said:"I am totally surprised”
"It is no secret that Juventus like him and they wanted him last summer.”
He then went on to talk about how the player has become a leader at United and following his contract renewal at the club, the chances of him leaving the team were slimmer than they had ever been.
"But the player renewed his contract, negotiations I followed personally, after Manchester United guaranteed he would become a symbol.”
"There is nothing true about that, those are stories created by newspapers which do not know what to write. Vidic is the captain of Manchester United and the best defender on the team."
Vidic joined United from Spartak Moscow, for a fee which is believed to be in the region of seven million pounds.
Ever since he made his move to United, he went on to establish himself in the Red Devils, first team. He has been leading the team on a number of occasions and his performances have been nothing short of extraordinary.
Vidic has the ability to read his opponents play, well before anyone else can and he can also make some of the most crucial tackles and interceptions ever seen. Following his promotion to being team captain, he took his game to a whole new level and also
went on to marshal the team on the pitch. He helps the players focus on the game and prevents them from wasting any time, arguing with the officials.
All in all, the seven million pounds that United paid for the player now seem like a bargain.
