United’s previous two UEFA Champions League final defeats in 2009 and 2011 respectively as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men.
In 2009, Barcelona dominated the encounter from start to finish after United’s strong start to the match and ended up as 2-0 winners whereas in 2011 at the Wembley stadium, the Spanish champions won the UEFA Champions League yet
again by a 3-1 score line. Vidic and his team mates were put to the test by Barcelona whose strategy has always been to retain the possession of the football which is in itself a means of defence as well as offense.
Pep Guardiola’s team have been doing exceptionally well in European football this season as well as they have already cemented their place in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League whereas Manchester United recently got
knocked out of the Europa League by Athletic Bilbao.
Vidic said, "I think that the biggest thing that makes it difficult to play against them is because they play without a striker. When they play without a striker, they are moving the ball all over the pitch, they have the possession,
and that makes teams frustrated”
He added, "And, obviously, they are technically very good and their knowledge of the game is really good and they know what they are doing. They’ve been doing it for years and years. Even when you know what is going to happen,
they make it happen. You have to say they are a great team."
