Nene Hilario relishing the prospect of becoming the top Free Agent this Summer – NBA Report
Nene Hilario of the Denver Nuggets became a free agent weeks after the Bronchos were knocked down by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs and it is expected that once the lockout ends,
he will be the top free agent of the summer. The big centre is said to be relishing the prospect and is looking forward to the offers he will be receiving.
Nene is also one of the few players not concerned about an international move during the lockout. He has been relaxing in the summer break by playing lots of soccer and spending quality time with his little son.
As soon as the lockout ends, the big man is set to get busy being the top man on the transfer market. Nene has been playing in the NBA for 9 years and has proved himself as a worthy centre who can be an effective shooter and can
rebound with ease.
He averaged 14.5 points from the field last season at an accuracy of 61.5%. If that is not enough, he averaged 47% from behind the three point arc.
Given that Nene is an extremely useful player, every team with a loop hole in the centre position will be hoping to acquire his services. Nene said that he is ecstatic to be considered the top man in the side.
“After nine years, I have goals and I’m a team player,” said Nene, who has averaged 12.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in his career. “I’m very competitive. I want to accomplish everything. It’s a big opportunity, and it’s the only one
in my life to be a top free agent. So I want to enjoy this moment. If people think it’s about money, they’re wrong. I’ve saved my money. I could retire today. I don’t need to prove points. I like it a lot here.”
Although Hilario has said that money will not decide his future as he will consider ‘other’ reasons first, it seems unlikely that money will eventually not play a role in his decision making. Every player is in one way or the other
is inclined towards money and most deals that get through are the ones where the most money I
Nene s expects to receive a multitude of offer, however, the Denver Nuggets would like to keep him in Denver and the Indiana Pacers desperately need a solid centre to fill the gap. Other teams will be in the hunt as well and hopefully
Nene will be able to fully utilize this once in a lifetime opportunity.
The 28 year old has bagged an average of 12.3 points per game and 6.9 rebounds in his 9 year career so far. Last year was especially productive for him as he managed 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds; per game.
