The Paris Saint-Germain man has been portrayed as an unhappy soul throughout the summer but claims that being in the Champions League squad makes him glad
Nene is a quagmire for all those who keep tabs on what happening at Paris Saint-Germain. The 31-year-old signed for the now cash-laden club from AS Monaco in the summer of 2010. And since making the move from the Principality, the former Celta Vigo man has
always been in the thick of things for the Ile club.
In each of his first two seasons, the winger scored 15 goals and provided a lot of assists to his teammate. Last season, despite the club acquiring proven game changers, it was Nene who was the club’s topscorer and played a big role in PSG’s second-placed
finish behind Montpellier Herault.
However, the arrival of some big-name stars, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 has casted a doubt on the player’s long-term future at the club. Carlo Ancelotti has a lot of options in the offense which means that PSG will have a deeper squad
from now on meaning that the Brazilian will have to get accustomed to change.
Many newspapers in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056, chose not to sell the player to any of the interested clubs as their offers did not meet the
club’s valuation of the playmaker come winger.
In the final hours of the transfer window, Turkish giants, Besiktas and Galatasaray came calling but their offers were also well short of what PSG expected.
However, failure to secure a move away from Parc des Princes has not affected Nene who is only glad to see his name in the PSG squad that will play in the Champions League this season.
“I figured in the list of 25 players for the Champions League. This was one of my goals, I felt needed, I could not leave under these conditions. And then, my first choice has always been to stay at PSG.”
Nene is not one of those players who would hold back on something they want to say. The player has always shown his disappointment when not used by Ancelotti but now, the player sees a humorous side of it.
When asked what he has learnt in recent months at PSG, the winger replied with a smile, “to stay on the bench”.
