I am an Indian citizen and am planning to go to nepal via road from darjeeling. I have not got a passport yet. So what all are the ID's that are accepted by the immigration authorities? Do I need to submit copies of any documents? Do they issue any visas or other documents? How long can I stay there? Please help me with the instructions.

  1. first of all in nepal you dont need visa you just take permanent proof of india i think it is ok

  2. Welcome to Nepal.

Please bring a proof that you are an Indian while coming to Nepal. Indian citizens don't require a visa but the responsibility of proving themselves to be an Indian lies on themselves. You may not even have to see the immigration office. Just enter speaking Indian or Nepalese language, if you know any of them. Sometimes, especially South Indians, need to see the immigration office because they don't even know Indian language.

You'll not be issued any document or visa and it is not even required. You can stay as long as you want. It is up to you. You can even start a business here without any requirement. However, for safety purpose, I'd suggest you to get registered yourself at Indian Embassy at Kathmandu, if you are planning to stay for long.
