The sporting director has insisted that Bayern Munich are not thinking about the UEFA Champions League final at the moment and the focus is on the German Cup.
Bayern Munich have to play two Cup finals in as many weeks as they take on Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea in the German Cup and the UEFA Champions League respectively. The team has a glorious chance of winning a double this season
as they prepare for the two most important games of the season.
Nerlinger commented on Borussia Dortmund’s four match winning streak over Bayern Munich and claimed that all of those fixtures were nail biting encounters which any team could have won. He insisted that Dortmund have been in very
good form of late and is confident of a mouth-watering encounter.
The chief admitted that Bayern are a much better side now than the start of the season and stressed that the games against Real Madrid prove the point. He claimed that a team which has reached the final of Europe’s premier club
competition is capable of beating any team so the Bavarians certainly stand a chance.
“If you think back to how those games went, it was always very tight. Dortmund simply had that little bit of luck you need. However, I believe our team has total confidence now after the victory in Madrid,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
Nerlinger added that the side wants to take one game at a time and will only focus on the Champions League once the German Cup ends. He urged the players against any complacency and has admitted that Dortmund would definitely be
a threat when attacking.
“Before the match, I don't want to talk about celebrating afterwards. That's the least of our problems. We're totally focused on the game,” he concluded.
Bayern will be hoping to secure their 16th DFB-Pokal with a win over Jurgen Klopp’s side as the two teams meet at the Olympiastadion in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 on May 12. The Reds will be looking to avoid any more injuries as they have
