Nero Vision problem?

just installed it andeverytime i try to open it an error pops up and says that i need directx 9.0 or higher and i download direct x and still doesnt work

I purchased a dvd burner with lightscribe and it came with that NERO suite of programs.  It's slowed my puter down tremendously, its not very user friendly and about 90% of all the fluff was already being done by other programs I was used to (photoshop, adobe after effects, MS Office Photo Editor, etc.).  I'm affraid to uninstall any of the NERO stuff because I don't know what is "necessary" to make the DVD burner work.

Anyways, good luck and I hope you find some answers.  I've had error messages pop up regarding codec's or copyright issues, when the footage is from my own video camera?!?!?
