Nerves are to blame for Tseng's defeat in France
Current world number one Yani Tseng was not expected to bow out of the Evian Masters 2012 after the second round, and now her fans have put her under scrutiny, asking what could possibly have caused her to
display such a bad performance.
Tseng has told on many occasions that her one of the biggest concerns on the course is her golf crazy fans. She said in one of her interviews that the only thing that makes her want to remain in contention
is her huge fan following.
However, when things go from bad to worse and she finds it hard to display a good performance on the course, she usually gets derailed by her nerves — something analysts say has been troubling the most successful
LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star since her rise to fame.
In recent tournaments, Tseng has shown that she tends to get nervous when she sees that she is not able to score well, and this is what happened to her when she faltered in the Evian Masters 2012 and ended
up missing the cut.
The defeat definitely came as a severe blow to the number one golfer, but analysts said that Tseng can overcome it if she works on her mental strength. They pointed out that if the LPGA giant faces a defeat
in one event, her performance usually slumps in the next tournaments and she finds it very hard to bounce back.
In France, Tseng was surprisingly calm the whole way round. Having got off to a shaky start, she lost her confidence and started messing up her scorecard by shooting a series of bogeys and making lousy strokes.
The top-ranked prodigy had expressed her worry a few weeks back, when she was getting ready to participate in the US Women’s Open 2012.
She spoke to the media and shared: "Sometimes when I start on the tee, I still worry about if my ball is going to hit right or left. But I feel good this week, actually. I feel very good. I feel very peaceful,
and thankful for playing the Open".
Analysts said that Tseng should now focus on doing her best at the coming CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, which can further consolidate her number one position in world rankings.
