ok so im really nervous about highschool. last year [ 8th grade ] i was knew i came like 3 weeks after school started. at my old school i was popular besides having an older sibling who was really popular in high school and like a grade of [ like 2 years older] kids that would be nice to me to so they would be friends with my sibling. so i had no worries of high school seniors-juniors because i knew most of them. in my grade i knew pretty much everyone from the people that were clasified as "nerds" - i didnt think they were - and the populars. i wasnt really popular but i knew all the popular kids and were friends with them i dint really belonge to a clique. so then i moved to a new school and im shy so i really didnt meet many people. the popular kids are all weird and how they are popular i don't know , they went to the same school since they were little, so i met some people that were " popular"' but not really alot because im the new girl and i really only knew the people i met in classes. ive been told i have a really good personality , sadly im shy so you dont really get to see it , im really nervous because my first name isnt common or anything so im worried about for 7? classes having to say i go by.... , so i have some questions

are the classes just freshman?

how many credits do you need to graduate?

what happens if you exceed that amount?

im taking mostly theatre classes and singing. is algebra really hard I HATE math. and im horrible at math so :( i usually get most of it but my math class is usually talkative so i can never pay attention - go figure-

im really nervous for lunch and where to sit. at my old school i had like 5 groups to choose from now i have like 5 people :((((((

whats the best thing to wear on the first day?

whats a good bookbag/ tote ? i dont like messengers - i carried one all of 7th grade and HATED it.

how should i wear my hair. i have mid-back length straight hair . it resembles selena gomez's hair alot. but mid back

any tips? what do you do on the first day ? HELP! i start school on the 25th .

  1. Hey i am a sophmore

freshmen classes are intermixed.. but not that big of a deal.

credits depend on schoo. just pass your classes you will be fine.\

If you exceed they can go into college if you take harder classes

Algerbra was fine.. i hate math. haha

Wear something casual. dont get all dresses up or upper classmen will no your fresh meat

A purse or back pack. but you will have a locker so all you need is your binder and book

Do curls.. or wavy nothing to crazy haha

Just go with the flow. dont be scared. it was  really not that bad.

    you will do fine

    good luck freshy =]

  2. 1- depends, it all depends on what classes you are taking. some classes are mixed but there is a good chance that the majority of the people in your class will be your age, or just one year older.

2- credits all depend on what school district and state you live in.

3- there are different levels of classes and if you take specific classes, you can get college credit for them, so you won't have to repeat the class over again (like spanish)

    4- i love singing :] haha. and i hate math too :[

5- see that's the tough thing, just make sure you know at least one person that is in your lunch and ask them if you can sit with them, i know it's nerve wrecking but you'll be fine after the first 10 min or so.

6- personally, i like to dress it up on the first day of school, just because you are having new teacher and meeting new people, you gotta make a good impression. i think something like jeans and a nice top with a pair of heels would be a good outfit, but that's just my style.

7- i get my totes from hollister, they have really cute ones, sometimes they can be expensive though so you could look at american eagle/pacsun or any other kind of stores like that. im sure they'd have one that you'd like

8- i would wear my hair down with my bangs puffed up, but that's just me, you could leave it all down or if your hair curls easily, that opens up so many more options, you could put it 1/2 up & curl it or wear it straight.

9- honestly, the best advice i got last year when i started high school was to relax and just mingle, i know its hard because you're kind of new but at the high school there are a lot more people that in middle school, people you may not have met, you just need to take it all in, high school is great, its about 12345678 X better than middle school (less drama) but seriously, just have fun, the first day is the day that you are going to be the most nervous, but by the time you're outta there at the end of the day, you'll realize how great it is.

    I HOPE I WAS HELPFUL :] ! <3 good luck, you'll be fine.

  3. 1) omg are you in texas???

a lot of girls like to straighten their their hair so  if your really worried about it straight is good.

a lot of girls have the hollister tote kinda thing

i like jeans for the 1st day, schools are pretty casual but if you want to dress up you can.

lunch is harder i would see if any of your friend have your lunch and figure out where to meet them and then you have at least someone to talk to

your school should tell you haw many credits you need, if you exceed that amount nothing happens, my school has a senior hour off kinda thing so if you do exceed your needed credits(this is like four years from now) you could possibly get half a day off. again that was senior year.

most of the core classes are with your grade so things like math science  language and history are with freshmen unless a person failed and is repeating.

algebra isn't bad but if you have trouble focusing sit in the front for that one class so you

    can focus.

don't be to nervous high school is basiclly middle school with more people. most people are nice.

  4. You shouldn't be so worried! Everything is going to fall into place. I'm not sure how large your school is, by the sounds of it, it is pretty large. I went to a small school and we had to graduate with at least 22 and half credits. Some classes could be all freshman and some aren't. If you exceed the amount of credits... That's a good thing, you didn't fail many classes. Sit at lunch where you feel most comfortable. It may not be easy finding friends, but try to be open with people as much as you can. Where what you find comfortable. I like Jansport backpacks. they are durable and are stylish. On the first day of school we had a meeting in the gym and pretty much outlined each class and their syllabus. Good luck in High School I wish you all the best. Hope that I helped some! :)

  5. I'm a freshman too  just be your self that's what everyone tells me

  6. Some of those questions will be explained to you by your administrators

I can answer a few though. Before you get to lunch get with people that you know. Follow them through the line or to where they sit. Sit near them. If i know high school, they will probably sit in the same spots everyday, so claim that spot by siting  in it everyday. Your hair is fine. Just dont die it a loud color. Dont dress flashy. (no dresses. People will think that you are concieted. Dont dress bummy either. People will think that you are poor or that you dont care about yourself.

The most common backpacks are the ones with one strap. algebra 1 is pretty easy. AGEBRA 2 IS HARD. so develop good study habits and dont pocrastinate

  7. The classes mostly have freshman, but some kids in higher grades are unfortunate and fail so they have to re-take classes. I had a couple of sophomores in my freshman classes, but they were well-mannered.

You need 22 credits to graduate

I'm sure nothing bad will happen if you exceed 22

I thought Algebra was hard at first, but that's because I didn't pay attention or do my homework the first half of the year. However, after seeing I was failing it, I cracked down and started paying attention more. It's not all that hard if you listen to the teacher, take notes, yadayada.

My only advice is to sit with your friends at lunch.

Wear whatever you feel is most comfortable

I just use a standard backpack but I leave it in my locker all year, so I just carry a trapper-keeper everywhere I go.

    Hmm...about the hair, I dunno. I'm not a hair stylist...sorry!

Good luck on your freshman year and have fun! I thought my first year of high school would be a little scary also but it grew on me fast and I was able to enjoy it. :)

  8. fist thing is relax it will be ok. ANd no algebra isnt hard i took it last year. its pretty much math with letters. usually classes aret just freshmen because kids in older grades fail. for your backpack get one from holister or get a roxy one there really cute. And most importantly be yourself. dress hiw you think you should dress and wear your hair how you want to.

  9. Just relax, Realize that you're not the only one, actually every single person is pretty nervous about their first day, even the teachers. My high school is huge and it took me a while to adjust, but don't worry. Compare schedules with your friends, If you have the same lunch periods you can meet. and don't worry. Everything will settle down for good in a month or so. As for schoolwork, try your very best and don't be afraid to ask questions. Study your weaker subjects, and let your teachers know you make an effort!

  10. As long as you never write anything with that many grammar and spelling mistakes then I think you will be okay.

  11. THIS WILL BE MY FIRST YEAR IN HIGH SKOOL IM KIND OF SCARE.. TOO.. CUZ NONE OF MY OLD FRIENDS ARE COMING TO THIS SKOOL.. IM LIKE THE ONLY ONE THERE

1- NO.. iF U R TAKING GEOMETRY NO.

2- IDK.. iS TOO EARLY TO WORRY ABOUT TAHT

3 THERE iS NO THING AS EXCEEDING THE AMOUNT.. N IF THERE IS WELL THAT WILL HELP U GET A SCOLARSHIP

ALGEBERA IS REALLY EASY I TOOK THAT CLASS ALREADY( WELL iN 8TH GRADE)

WELL DURiNG LUNCH.. iM SURE PPL WILL TELL U TO SIT WITH TEHM

N WEAR SOMETHING U FEAL CONFORABLE WITH

    USE A TOTE

  12. Don't worry about a thing you will do great, high school will be the best years of your life, credits, it depends on where you live i guess i needed 23 credits.

  13. First of all, NO CLIQUES. Be yourself. Hang out with people that you enjoy and like. They can be from any group.

    are the classes just freshman?

Depends what kind of classes you take. But yeah, usually you will have a lot of people in your grade in most of your classes.

how many credits do you need to graduate?

    Usually between 20-24 credits.

what happens if you exceed that amount?

You could have the choice to graduate early...or what I reccomend is take a class that you're interested in.

im taking mostly theatre classes and singing. is algebra really hard I HATE math. and im horrible at math so :( i usually get most of it but my math class is usually talkative so i can never pay attention - go figure-

Electives are awesome, but you need to take classes to help you graduate. Math is one of them [unfortunately]. I suck at it too, but always pay attention and do your homework. You'll get a reward towards the end of your last high school year.

im really nervous for lunch and where to sit. at my old school i had like 5 groups to choose from now i have like 5 people :((((((

Sit ANYWHERE!! And I'm pretty sure people will come up to you. If not, is there a girl in class that seems really nice to you? Ask her a day to lunch sometime.

whats the best thing to wear on the first day?

Whatever you want and like. Be YOU. But don't be too flashy or blingy. Be a little casual and classy, too.

whats a good bookbag/ tote ? i dont like messengers - i carried one all of 7th grade and HATED it.

Backpacks for a start. They are stable, and you need one that will last you for at least two years. I know they're a pain in the butt, but you cannot have a bookbag or a tote for the first year of high school. You will be taking a lot of classes, and a simple tote won't be able to fit all of your stuff for you. Once you're a Junior or a Senior, then you can start using that stuff.

how should i wear my hair. i have mid-back length straight hair . it resembles selena gomez's hair alot. but mid back

Ooooh. I'm jealous. =] Do it the way YOU like it. Or the way you think you look best in. But same rules as the clothing. =]

any tips? what do you do on the first day ? HELP! i start school on the 25th

Make sure you keep your schedule with you for a couple of days until you know that you'll memorize. Don't worry, everything will be fine. Wlecome to the big world, now. =]

  14. first off you have GOT TO CLAM DOWN!!

high school really isnt all its cracked up to be.

popularity may play a role and u may see it as important now, but really it doesnt matter. and u'll come to ignore that kind of stuff. id say not to worry about math cause honestly, it will only get harder.

what u have to worry about is jr. yr

i go to high school in huntington beach and pretty much our school is full of idiots and surfer dudes.

    good luck, u'll be fine

    and friends come pretty quick.

talk to the people around you in classes. start with just people in ur class and once they get to kno u, u'll start to kno their friends and eventually everyone else.

if your really concerned about that kind of thing, then i suggest that you join a club or some sort of sport you enjoy cause then u'll be more comfortable and friends will come faster.

  15. Try to just talk to people. High school isn't as bad as you think. Sure they seniors are mean, but they were freshmen once too. They don't do anything bad. They worst they can do is take you to the wrong class. Don't worry, it's not like on TV hun.

It depends, the classes will most likely have seniors, or sophmores, or even juniors though.

Well, that I think depends too. At my school, we have 8.

I don't think there is anything that will happen, and I don't think you will exceed that amount.

You have already been taking some algebra in pre-algebra, so it's not much different. Just try your best to work hard and pay attention. Don't be afraid to ask the teacher questions, that's what they're here for. If you are nervous, wait until after class, or before or after school.

Try to see if you have the same lunch with those people. If so, then try to designate a spot for you to sit. If you have different lunches, then it's time to try to meet new people. If you are nervous, think about it this way, would you rather try to ask to sit with someone else, or sit alone and look (and I hate to say it this way) like a loner?

Don't dress up, it makes it look like you want to stand out, and trust me, that's the last thing you want to do. Just wear jeans or capris, and a shirt. It's nothing to get all dolled up for. Don't get a tote, it makes you come off as a a little kid.

You want to get a normal backpack like Jansport. Totes rip and tear easily, and trust me, you will get annoyed because they cannot support the things you need to carry in high school, especially if you do not have a locker. They also can cause back problems.

Do not do anything outragious to your hair. Just keep it simple. And remember, you don't have to straighten it everyday (if you do straighten it) because it is incredibly bad for your hair.

On the first day you want to look relaxed, try not to look so nervous, although most of us can't help it. Find your friends and just start talking, and see if you have any classes you can walk to together. If you get lost, don't worry, I'm sure there will be people who can direct you where to go. If not, look for someone who looks a little older, just don't look for someone who looks big and bulky. That's the advice I got.

    Good luck being a freshman...

  16. lol just relax! I was JUST like you last year lol new school and all. dont worry about it, Your friends will come naturally as long as you do. Wear your hair down just leave it out. not sure bout the book bag lol.  And on the first day...just go to your normal classes cause almost every other kid your age is feeling this way. You will most-likely have teachers or something telling you how your first day will go and how things in this school will work. Youll be fine as long as you listen to the teachers and othr people. be nice to the kids in class and they wull be nice back. Its the circle of life:P Good luck!! ^^

  17. the more you worry the more you're going to to be shy.

most of your classes won't have exactly freshmen, cause sometimes in some states they allow students to take a freshmen class while their in another grade. usually you have to have 24 credits. you sometimes get commended if you go for more but nothing that great. depends on the school. try to get a tutor for your math class ask people that are in another class with the same teacher. or as to be placed in to another period. theatre and choir will help you meet alot of people. and its super fun!!

find someone in one of your classes that you sit next to and buddy up with them ask them to find you at lunch and sit together, i can bet they won't have anyone to sit next to either.

the best thing to wear is bright colors, comfy shoes. something that will make people look, put together some outfits and ask some firends what they think. jan sport has alot of great degins and colors for their backpacks which allows you to show some personality.

start playing with some hair styles, twists that are pinned back with bobby pins are super cute! or a half down half up doo would be cute too. get up early so you don't have to rush around, take a deep breath and tell yourself that your going to have a great year, make as much friends as you can, have as much fun as you can. these are your last 4 years of your school career. you want great memories. try to stay out of the drama, trust me lol.

i hope you do well sweetie.

talk to me anytime if you need help!?

  18. Don't worry!!  I'm sure you'll be just fine!  For math, maybe try to get tutoring from your teacher after school, most teachers offer it a few days a week.  I know no one wants to stay after school, but if you know you won't be able to pay attention, it's worth it, and your teacher might be easier on you since she knows you're making an effort.

Just be yourself and friendly, you'll have friends in no time.  get a good tote bag, it should carry all your binders, you might get stuck carrying a few books, or the other way around.  What are your favorite colors?  Wear what you like the most and what makes you look good. Wear your hair straight with some cute earrings.  Good luck!!
