Question:

Nervous about leaving the country.?

At the end of the month, I'm going to Germany for the whole of August as a university program. I'll be taking a beginner German class there, but I'll be heading there alone and I won't know anyone. I don't speak the language, but I'm told that most speak English anyway.

While on one end I'm excited about doing something new, I'm also very nervous about the whole affair. Like what if I don't like it, what if I get lonely, etc. Everyone tells me it will be fun but I'm still sort of scared. I've been abroad before but always with other people. Is my trepidation normal?

  1. Heh, you'll be fine! Most people get so curious that you're scared. It's a new and different experience so that's why you're so afraid. You'll be fine and you'll have a great time, although it may take some time getting used to. Germany is a great country to go to, and it is a lot safer than most places in the world.

Good luck with your studies and make sure to call your friends and family if you get lonely!

  2. don't worry you are white and they are white. they would treat you like one of them.

  3. Just to set your mind at ease a bit, get your self a Frommers Travel Guide so you will have good details of the area you will be in and get some travel insurance so that if something out of your control does go wrong you have that covered as well. This way you have a little less to think about and can stick to enjoying yourself and learning! Have an awesome trip!
