I am 6 weeks pregnant, I went and had an abdominal ultrasound done yesterday and only was told by the ultrasound tech that I had an intrauterine pregnancy and that nothing else could be seen. Well this morning my dr's nurse called and said I needed to go back to radiology and have a vaginal ultrasound done this afternoon. I asked why and she said she didnt know and the dr was in surgery till this afternoon. Im so worried, there must be something wrong, why else would they order another ultrasound so soon.??

  1. intrauterine normally is when the fetus is smaller then they exspected for the weeks your pregnant. So they prob. couldnt see it so they may think it is intrauterine, but everthing should be fine. If it does pregress you will have a smaller baby, maybe not. Good luck.

  2. Perhap they literally meant they couldn't see enough. Usually any ultrasound done that early has to be transvaginal because the baby's so small. I'm surprised they didn't just do it right away. So, it seems like something they'd do for most women even if there isn't a problem. It's upsetting when they fail to communicate such things to patients when it would only take a second to explain.

  3. I had ultrasounds at 5 weeks and 7 weeks. The tech tried both time do to it on my stomach but couldnt see anything. She had to do transvaginal both times. She had all the equipment right there so I didnt have to go back or anything.

At the 5 week on all they could see was a sec

At the 7 week they could see the baby and heartbeat! Good Luck

  4. They probably want you to go so soon so they can get measurements. The abdominal ultrasound really can't see that much at only 6 weeks, so they want you to have a vaginal so they can know all that's going on. They had to do the same with me so I really wouldn't be worried.
