Neslihan Yigit, Ozge Bayrak claim another victory in European Club Championships – Badminton news
Women’s Doubles experts Neslihan Yigit and Ozge Bayrak forged fruitful chemistry in the elimination round of European Club Championships and claimed a splendid victory on May 31, 2013.
They faced a spirited duo Kirsty Gilmour-Weny Rasidi and this encounter remained in full swing for 31 minutes. Both teams displayed commendable skills and kept the audience glued to their chairs while piling the final figures of 21-19 and 21-13.
Initially, the Women’s Doubles team of Egospor badminton club took some time to revive their lost chemistry but still they managed to seal a splendid straight-set win. On the other hand, the twosome of Kirsty and Weny failed to employ an effective counterattack
strategy and could not fetch even a single match point for their team BC Chambly Oise.
The first set of match started with couple of gruelling rallies as both pairs put all they had to gain an immediate advantage. However, they could not hit the mark and remained close on the points table until the announcement of one-minute break.
After the mid-game break, both teams challenged each other in all departments and made this contest memorable. They kept on chasing each other all the way to game point situation and finally this nerve-racking set ended when Neslihan and Ozge registered
a concluding score of 21-19.
With this timely win, the Turkish campaigners gained a psychological edge and they capitalised this advantage even in the following game.
The second set proved a one-sided affair immediately after the half time as the twosome of Neslihan and Ozge performed exceptionally well. Both female shuttlers did not show any sign of confusion and cast out the opposing team with a staggering knock.
In first half of the set, Kristy and Weny looked bit charged as they bagged few consecutive points but then some mistakes brought them down. They kept on making fatal mistakes and this approach ultimately led them to a woeful defeat.
Meanwhile, the Turkish shuttlers capitalised their rivals’ blunders and swept the table with an overwhelming figure of 21-13. With this crucial match point, Egospor badminton club saved some honour and ended the elimination round of European Club Championships
with some grace.
