Question:

Nesting already? Normal?

I'm only 24w1d and I swear, I'm nesting already. In the last three days, I have made my husband move rooms around such as switching dressers into different bedrooms, then I have thrown all my babies clothes and my daughter's clothing into the middle of a room, sorted it, folded it, put it away, and if it needed to be hung, I arranged it in order of size, 0 months and up. I have thrown out tons of garbage and even perfectly good items.

I have also scrubbed the dishes and floors, vacuumed etc. I think I have only sat to rest for meal time and for bed time.

My house is nearly spotless.

I'm also h**l bent and pushy on what we buy and when we buy it. Apart from bills and food, our extra money has gone only to baby things, even though we still have 16 weeks left. My husband wants to spend it on other things, but I just want to buy for the baby and make sure we have everything. I've actually thrown a tentrum worse than my 17 month old daughter's tantrums because my husband wanted to buy a $10 movie, and I wanted to put that money towards our double stroller.

I didn't start this nesting phase until 39 weeks with my daughter. 3 days after I started, my daughter was born.

Is it common to start nesting this early? It doesn't mean my son will come early, does it?

  1. I am the same way right now. All I want to do is clean. Same with money, all I want to do with it is spend it on baby gear knowing that my baby shower is less then a month away. Though if I do find anything on clearance I will get it. Ive so far got a pack and play for 100 and a changing table for 35 all on clearance.

  2. your about a month behind me, and i think i started cleaning tons last month too. so i guess its normal.  i usually hate cleaning and such, but every since last month, i have been cleaning whenever i'm bored lol.

  3. My nesting periods came later in my pregnancy but I have an idea:  all of you nesting mothers come to my house and help me get organized since I have a 3 1/2 year old, a 4 month old, and work from home and can't get anything done.  Thanks!

  4. Are you manic depressive per chance?  I am.  I am 30 weeks pregnant and this weekend I baked 4 batches of banana muffins, spaghetti sauce (4 large meals,) two lasagnes, 4 shepherds pies, 3 turkey stews and a roast beef dinner all to freeze. I am driving myself nuts never mind everyone else around me.  We have also done a tonne of other things too.  I know how you feel.  This started several weeks ago. This is our fourth and we have had issues with the pregnancy which may cause me to deliver early. So organizing is the only thing I can control!  Watch out for post partum depression.  You never know.  Good luck.

  5. It's totally normal!! I am 38 weeks pregnant. Ever since I found out I was pregnant I go into and out of the nesting phase. But it is extremely strong at the end.Tell hubby to get a lifting belt!! lol!!

  6. It's perfectly normal! Every pregnancy is different. You wont be comfortable or have peace of mind till you have these chores taken care of. I know it's not easy to think of anything else but the baby right now but you really need to let your husband feel important too. Try to get him more involved. Ask what he thinks or wants, maybe he would be more excited in buying. You are so lucky he is around. Mine was deployed on both our boys. I would of given anything to have him be part of it. Try to keep in mind that physically you are going threw it but emotionally you both are. Give the guy a break and let him pick out a movie. I think sometimes our husbands are our biggest kids, lol. A little movie might make all the difference. Congrats on the baby and slow down, sounds like you are already a great mommy!

  7. lol it sounds like a good thing its better to be prepared early
