Question:

Nesting bunny help...?

So my bunny keeps nesting, then she destroys her nest, then days later, she makes one again. She's done this about 3 times now. She stays outside sometimes in a little pen in the backyard, I watch her pretty closely when she's outside. The other night there was a wild rabbit around but she didn't pay any attention to it. As far as I know she hasn't been mated. Could it just be false pregnancy? Or could she be pulling out hair because she's shedding? Someone help.

  1. have you bred her? A domestic rabbit cannot mate with a wild rabbit, they are genetically different, because domestic rabbit's ancestors are european wild rabbits. This makes them unrelated to the domestic rabbit in America. You rabbit is probably going through a false pregnancy, if she's not pulling fur, then she probably isn't pregnant. I had a doe do this after i bred her and she did this. You just never know with rabbits. If you didn't breed her, then I think it's a sign she's in heat and wants to be bred. She wants to be a mommy, Lol. Well I hope I helped.

  2. Buy a Universal Sanitary Rabbit Nest.

  3. Please have her spayed and bring her indoors

  4. Sounds like a false pregnancy.

Most female rabbits go through them at least once in their breeding life time.

  5. It sounds like she could be pregnant, or she could be going through a false pregnancy, where she thinks she's pregnant, but she's really not.

If this continues for about 1-2 more weeks, I would buy a nesting box, just in case she is pregnant.

Pulling out her hair, to create a nest is normal, and she probably keeps destroying it because she thinks somethings wrong with it.

Keep a close eye on her, and like I said give it a week or two, then buy a nesting box.

    Good luck!
